Arizona Updates!

I can’t believe we are already 4 weeks into school. If this is any indicator for how fast this semester is going to go, it will be over before we know it!

Usually the beginning of semesters are pretty overwhelming and tedious for me, between going through syllabi and classes just starting up. However, the beginning of this semester has been a blast so far!

Over Martin Luther King weekend, my best friends from my Disneyland College Program who I worked with at Jungle Cruise (aka the Skips) came to visit! We went to our favorite breakfast place named NCounter 3 times. We went to see “Sisters” with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey which was hilarious. (you can’t beat those super cheap movie tickets and reclining seats at our local theater!) We even got to go glow-in-the-dark mini golfing and the theme of the course was all jungle animals, which couldn’t have been more appropriate. It was so nice to be all together in one place again!

Then this past weekend, my parents came to visit all the way from Buffalo. They had never been to Arizona before but they absolutely loved it! I got to take them to a bunch of my favorite restaurants, we hiked A Mountain, and I showed them all around campus.

We visited the Arizona Biltmore Hotel as well, which is gorgeous. My parents adore Frank Llyod Wright architecture, so this was the perfect place to show them. The grounds are so fun to explore – we even found a life-sized chess board and my Dad and Noah had quite an intense match!

Lastly, we got to go to the Musical Instrument Museum which was a really unique part of our trip. You have the opportunity to look at instruments from all over the world paired with music clips at each exhibit. At the end, there was even an interactive room where you could play the instruments! I fulfilled my lifelong dream of playing a harp, Noah and I composed some pretty cool drum duets, and we even got to play on a Steinway Grand Piano! There were also exhibits featuring some famous instruments. My favorite was the piano that John Lennon composed “Imagine” on! I never thought I’d be in the same room as that particular piano but I guess stranger things have happened!

Those are the biggest highlights of the past couple weeks! On top of that, I planned two trips to Disneyland, (one of which is beginning later today!) figured out where I am going for Spring Break, and also where I’m going for a good portion of my summer! However, those are stories we will save for another time.

One other random thing that happened is that I changed my twitter and instagram handle from @PrincessJess508 to @JessicaFaye508. You wouldn’t think that this is a super huge deal, but I have had that old handle for over 4 years, so it was like going through a slight social media identity crisis. Looking back on Princess Jess, I think she represented a very special chapter of my life featuring new beginnings with Disney and growing throughout those adventures. I want to be able to use Jessica Faye as more of a resource so I can display my work to others who may not particularly understand why I have “princess” in the title. Nevertheless, I am excited for this change and in a way it signifies a fresh beginning! If you’re not doing so already, feel free to follow @JessicaFaye508 on both instagram and twitter! I’d love to have you come along for the adventures.

  1. Yay! I love your blog updates, I read each one! I’m also sad to see PrincessJess go but I understand why you changed it. I’m just glad to follow along with your adventures and I can’t wait to see what the summer has in store for you! I’m very glad school is going well and you transitioned in Arizona so easily. You and Noah are too cute together!
If you have a snapchat, can we follow you there too?
