Any time I have the chance to bring a friend home to Buffalo, I get so excited to show them my little corner of the world. Liz had never been to the state of New York, so I was ready to introduce her to some cooler weather, some unique spots, and of course, some of the most delicious food on the planet.
Obviously out of all of those priorities, the most important was the food! We drove a little bit (okay… a lot a bit) out of our way to go to my all time favorite bagel place, Bagel Jay’s! These bagels tasted even better than they looked – if you can believe it!
Then we drove up to Niagara Falls because I couldn’t bring Liz all the way up to Buffalo without making a stop here! We got a little bit adventurous and even went to the Canadian side.
After admiring the views, we went on the Canadian version of the “Maid of the Mist” boat ride which is called “The Hornblower.” It took us as close to the falls as we could possible get and we got completely drenched!
We also made a visit to Canalside and said hello to Shark Girl! She is a true icon.
Another crucial stop was La Nova Pizza! Liz claims this was “the greatest pizza she’s ever had in her life” and honestly I could not be more proud. I always claim that Buffalo pizza is the best pizza so it makes me happy when someone from another state finally gets to share part of the joy!
Going to Buff was the perfect little getaway that we needed during the (extremely intense) heat of the Florida summer. We couldn’t thank Mom and Dad enough for taking us in and making our trip so beyond special. By the end of our visit, Liz was practically part of the family and we can’t wait to go back again!
